    Eagle Cam

I just found this and it's so neat I wanted to share! It's a camera in an eagle's nest in Iowa. The pair (together since 2007) is sitting on three eggs - one of which just hatched early this morning. There is even an infrared night cam! It is very cool - enjoy if you want!

Thanks Bridget, I love it!!! I just looked and it is sleeping with his tucked into his back, I could MELT!!! I never knew big birds like bald eagles slept like that. Too cute, I will be watching it in the morning to see if I can see its new baby.

    Re: Eagle Cam

I saw that too!!! As Tini was sitting in my hand sleeping like that, the big momma (daddy?) eagle was all snuggled in snoozing the same way! Crazy! I love this - and must admit am a bit obsessed with it!

Deanna - I missed the event this morning - but now there are TWO babies!!! I will be looking for them!!!!

Gosh I get hooked on these eagle cams too, I watched one from Canada last year and it was way too hard to leave it when the babies got bigger. I just got to see the eagle get up and feed only one of the babies just now, only one of them got food so hopefully the other will be able to lift his head higher the next time to get some food.

    Re: Eagle Cam

Maybe because it is "just born" it doesn't need the food as soon as its sibling? The pair has successfully raised three babies before, so I hope it's just something like that. I just got to see both the eaglets just now...they are so fuzzy and cute! Before I saw both parents in the nest and them switch off - it was really cool!

    Re: Eagle Cam

The one that didnt get fed seemed like it was the new one because it could barely stand up and was so wobbly when it did it would fall over and lay there. I seen they have already raised 3 babies the last two years and hopefully they will do it this year again. They are super fuzzy for being so young, I was expecting to see little alien birds that look like babies we see here on the site but nope they both had super fuzzy grey feathers all over there tiny bodies. Did you see that someone must be zooming in on the eagle and also the babies now and then, I never seen any other camera do this before so I know this one will be a great one to look at.

    Re: Eagle Cam

I agree - I think it was the new eaglet. But I saw him (her??) get fed today. I think he just needed to get stronger. Both the eaglets are much more active now! It's so incredible to watch their daily progress. I too am amazed at how fuzzy they are! I like how whoever is manning the camera gives me a better view of the babies and what's happening. I just could do without the meals being around the nest - bluck.

Oh I no about the food, it is rather disgusting to see what they feed them but it is neat sitting there watching to see who will get fed. I just got to see them being fed and it is so cute to see the babies begging for food, just now one of the babies was standing so tall it tipped over backwards... they are so cute! They also seem lots stronger since just this morning, I cant wait to see what they look like tomorrow.

    Re: Eagle Cam

Oh hey, I didn't know there was a thread for this. I've been watching these guys for almost two weeks now. Sometimes I find myself staring at them for over an hour, I just love watching them. I've seen the babies get fed tons of times now, and I've even seen them feed themselves. They seem to be getting very strong. I was worried about the smallest one for a bit but he seems to be doing pretty good. There are three by the way.

I have quite a few screenshots of them too if your interested.

One parent flying off after bringing more food:

Both feeding at the same time:

    Babies being fed:

    Mom and Dad together:

    Babies starting to wander:

One of the parents hadn't been to the nest for a while so I guess the other decided to fly off to get some food (or exercise):

But the babies are getting so much bigger and stronger so fast. It amazing how fast they grow.

    Re: Eagle Cam

It is crazy how fast they grew!! They look like little eagle heads now! Although their big long wings being so disproportionate to their bodies, crack me up.

Did you see the parents getting spooked/angry by the owls about a week ago? I didn't see it live, but I watched the video capture of it. They were NOT pleased with those owls, but I also thought that it was pretty cool how you could actually hear the owl's wings as it buzzed them.

I was worried about them with the snow, but they seem to be doing just fine! It is funny because I have to check on the babies every day - I'm a bit obsessed! And to top it off, just Wednesday, I was driving home from work and looked over at a field and there was a bald eagle just standing there! It was the coolest thing.

Anyhow, thanks for the still captures, Brittany!

    Re: Eagle Cam

No I didn't see that. I wasn't able to get online for almost a week and missed them so much! When I finally was able to get back on they grew so much in such a short amount of time, I was shocked.

They are so big right now the parents can't even cover them when sitting on them now.

I havent been able to get onto the site for a long time as well and just peeked and I said the same thing about them, poor babies in all that snow. The Mom or Dad is just soaked but it least it dont appear to be snowing right now. Watching it makes me what to cuddle it to give it some warmth right now.

    Re: Eagle Cam

I know. When I was watching it the one parents was covered in snow, it just looked like a big lump of snow. Must have been freezing! Then I checked them again before I left for work and both of the cameras were covered so I couldn't see them at all. Right now it's still pretty covered. Can't really see them. Hopefully they are all OK.

    Re: Eagle Cam

I cant see them either, maybe a tail but I am not for sure but I think the nest might not be so covered with snow now so hopefully the weather will clear for them. It is so sad to see the poor parent out there freezing
