Snake Eggs

I had 2 cornsnakes lay eggs recently, thought I'd post pictures for anyone interested. The yellow one (butter stripe) was smooth sailing. She had 5 slugs/unfertile eggs (the smaller yellow ones in the picture).

The red snake (hypo motley) I had so much trouble with this year! This is actually her 2nd clutch. She reabsorbed her first clutch. Because she had regurgitated after the first clutch I did not want her to double clutch, did not want to put more strain on her body, so I did not mate her with anyone. Well, she double clutched anyway (they can store sperm). She got all the eggs out, until the last egg she got eggbound. After waiting for a while, and the egg not moving anywhere, long story short I was able to maneuver it to the vent and pop it and slide it out. Fun times. Unfortunately I candled her eggs and I don't think any have veins in them (except maybe 1 or 2 that I will be watching).

I'm expecting hatchlings from the yellow one in mid-June. If the red one has any viable eggs I expect hatchlings in mid-July.

Heather, you have some beautiful babies! I can't wait to see the babies that hatch. I think I'm in love with your Red. She is absolutely gorgeous! I love how in the picture of the Yellow, it looks like she has a heart shape on the top of her head.

Beautiful! I love snakes, but that is the one animal mom says NO! NEVER! to. :/ I love your yellow, she is gorgeous! Has the most adorable heart on her head! .....
