Brand New Egg
The perfect cockatiel.
My cockatiel Hope passed away friday. It was the absolute hardest thing i've ever delt with I'm still pretty young myself so i've really never delt with death this close to me. Hope and I were so close. Me and her were visiting my parents house and she was having out of the cage time in my sisters room and she I'm assuming what happened was she was flying hit the wall fell behind the TV and there was a painting resting up against the tv on the floor so the painting was like this \| and she got stuck in between them and I think she hurt something. She wasnt acting any different but her chirp was a little muffled and she seemed kinda tired i thought i was from trying to get out. I let her sit on me chest for hours then asked my dad to keep an eye on her. He did for about another hour and she was okay. So i fianlly put her away. I went out for a bit came home checked on her again she was still fine but when I woke up the next morning she was laying down on the bottom of the cage and I knew right away and I jsut started bawling. I miss her so much and right after she passed a friend of mine brought me a baby budgie to try and cheer me up I understand she thought it would make me feel better but really my baby had just passed away and you dumped another one in my lap. This week has been so hard.

Re: The perfect cockatiel.
I am sorry for your loss. Our little birds grab out hearts first thing we meet them and when we lose them it really does hurt our souls.
Sending you many hugs.
Fly Free Boomer, we will forever love you.

Re: The perfect cockatiel.
i'm sorry to hear about Hope. She went knowing she was loved, which is all we can give them. Sometimes accidents happen and they are so good at hiding that anything is really wrong, it is hard to know. Try not to be too mad at your friend, people who don't bond closely with animals don't understand how we feel when we lose one, they think of it as a toy that can be replaced.
*hugs*

I'm sorry to hear about your loss. Our fids might be small in size but they sure do have hold of a good portion of our hearts even if they don't know. Consider yourself given a big hug and keep in mind that your friends intentions were good even if they upset you more. You do have a baby budgie who needs a little piece of your heart too and I'm sure Hope won't mind sharing your heart.

Re: The perfect cockatiel.
Your post made me so sad... Like so many other people here, I know what you're going through. She was your baby, she was your perfect cockatiel, and yes it hurts so much. A great big hug to you.
Perhaps you should read 'Remember Me' in the Rainbow Bridge section? I know this poem helped me a lot when we lost Bailey. I still come and read it from time to time.
