cow bell toy
I have a male cockatiel and he only plays with one toy so far. He loves it and plays with it throughout the day. I've had him about a month and a half. The only real part of the toy that he plays with is the bell. It looks like a cow's bell. It is designed from what I see like most other bells sold in pet stores and it is the appropriate size for a cocktiel. So far he has had no trouble with it. But he lately will stick his entire beak into the bottom of the bell and chew on the knob that hangs in it, or whatever you call it. If you look inside those bells, there is a little hole toward where the knob is attached to the top. He hasn't yet but I'm worried that he will somehow get the tip of his beak stuck in that hole or something. I was wondering has anyone else ever had a bird get his beak stuck in a bell like that? I'm assuming they must be safe if the people who design the toys make all of the bells like this. But I just wanted to make sure.

Egg's Cracking...
Re: cow bell toy
I'm always cautious about bells. I've heard stories of birds getting their toes stuck in them and that never turns out good. Also, don't assume that all bird toys are safe for birds. That is certainly not true, sadly enough. I've heard people, I think somewhere on this forum, who cut that piece out though.
Someone else might give their opinion also, but I personally don't like the danger risk involved with that piece.
