Having two bunnies in the house must be great, they are both just so cute. I love it how she runs away whenever Powder trys to sniff her.

Powder is super-friendly, but she's still a bit skittish, so having her running around is still a bit of a hassle. Moving two steps spooks her. Powder has decided to become my furry alarm clock and wakes me up every morning jumping around the bed like a lunatic until I pay attention to him and if I fail to wake up, he goes to wake our bird up so that HE can wake me up!

Hehe annoying at times, but he's so cute about it...I can't get upset with him. When he does it at 6-7am though I tend to just ignore him...

Ah, i still remember when i had a bunny. My parents let it go in the wild because they thought that would be better for the bunny. It kept living in a meadow for years with other wild bunnies, was a fun thing to see.

Eeps. I'm glad it was able to survive, but most domestic rabbits do very poorly in the wild and just like with birds, shouldn't be released!

Never had bunnies as I heard they multiple very quickly. Is it true.

It can be true, but mine are spayed/neutered. Rabbits gestation period is 30 days and they can double litter since a females egg drops when she is mated, there is no mating season. But, it is not a good idea to have an unspayed female anyway, even without the risk of babies, since they have about 80% chance to get cancer by age 2 if left unaltered. And who wants to lose their baby that young to something so easily prevented? Mine are also litter trained and they don't live in cages, they have their own bedroom.

Love that last pic! Stretched out bunnies are adorable! Sounds like you have a nice set-up, these buns are lucky to be owned by you When I was little my sisters giant spotted lop bunny escaped. We never saw her again, but for a couple of years we saw many large and spotted half lop bunnies all over (luckily we lived out in the boonies so it was not bothering anyone), supposedly it only takes a few (3?) generations for rabbits of any breed to be reverted back so that they are no different than any wild bunny.

Powder and Stickers are precious.. I'm sure they are characters in their own way. I am actually amazed that they are house trained. That must have taken some time time to use train them to use a litter box. Thanks for sharing your photo's.. They seem so happy

It didn't take any time to train them - bunnies are naturally clean animals, due to their prey instincts. Powder took 0 minutes (he was trained the minute he was in the house from the shelter) and Stickers took about a week (she didn't know what the box was at the start, she thought that plastic thing with soft comfy carefresh was a bed). In the wild their droppings everywhere would attract predators to their den, so they try to stick to one area, you can just manipulate that instinct to make them use the boxes.

And yes they are characters - you should see them running around doing binkies and bunny 500s so cute! They are a lot like having cats, but without the risk to the bird - my tiel can preen the bunnies all he wants and they'd never try to eat him. And Powder loves pets, he'll jump up on the bed and lay down for an hour if you pet him.

Anyone who sees this thread though - rabbits are a LOT of work (nail trims, brushing, vet visits, checkups, litter box cleaning daily, etc). At least as much as a cat or dog. And a lot of money too - annual check ups, dentals, Stickers just had an infection so needed Baytril, toys which they tear up within a day, salads (at least 3 different leafy greens per day) so lots of vegetables, etc. By no means are they easy, inexpensive or cage pets (4 hours recommended daily just like a bird of out time). I like to add this disclaimer cause a lot of people see rabbits and go "oooh, cute!" ... but they are hard to take care of and often stand offish, so people get frustrated with them.
