    My Little Lonely Chick

As some of you may know, I am supposed to be getting another little Cockatiel soon. Unfortunately (sp?) he is a little behind in development. I emailed the breeder asking how him and Mumble were doing and this is what she told me:
"ello Mumbles is doing great, he made friends with another bird I am watching over the 4th of july weekend. The baby I guess because he is all alone is not develaping like he should his sisters were sold out of the nest at 10 days old so he has no one to learn off of. I think another week or two he will be ready to go.. I think I will put him out with the adult birds so they can show him how to eat."
I hope he "grows up" soon and that he is OK. It was good to hear that Mumble made a friend, too, because I wasn't sure about how he would react around other birds. Hopefully he takes a liking to the new birdie, too. Thanks for taking the time to read this. Wish us Luck

A bit confused. Why is your Mumble with the breeder you are getting a new bird from, rather than at home and introduce the baby to him when you get it rather than him bonding with the other adult bird at the breeder then removing him from the bird he bonds to, to try to rebond him to the baby? Also, selling babies out of the nest at 10 days worries me. :s What age is the baby you are getting at the moment?

I am on vacation and she was willing to watch him until we got back. He gets along with the baby I am getting, too, but every once in a while she lets all the birds play together and he played with the other one. I was shocked at how early the babies were sold but from what I understand, they were sold to breeders. He was born May 10... so about 2 months. Thanks for the concern.

Ah, ok. That makes sense then.

Hopefully the little one picks up eating on his own soon so you can bring them both home when you get back.
