congrats on his first wordhopefully my kid learns his first words soon.
how often did you repeat the phrases to him and how many days did it take?
I was so happy today about this first that I thought you'd all appreciate being in on it
Rory said his first wordsWe were sat having lunch today and all of a sudden he starts up his usual nattering and series of noises, trying to speak, which goes on for about 10 minutes. So I turn the tv down a bit to hear him better and after a little longer we hear what sounds like "Roooryyy" but don't get too excited incase it's just wishful thinking or we misheard. Then a little longer of it (what is sounding a lot more like words now! He's definitely picking up stresses and pitch changes.) and we hear a definite "Rory!!"
I could honestly have cried! My little baby's growing up *wipes a tear away* XD
He's picking up the stress pattern of "What you doing??" too and we also heard a muffled/only just coherant "Good boyyy!"
It's been a great week for usFirst he regurgitates for me and now he's speaking
On such a high with him at the moment!!

It's hard to say, we didn't really focus on getting him to talk much as I think it's about the 6 months old mark that they begin (I think Rory's 4 and a bit months). He picked up stresses very quickly, within a month of having him, as we'd say the same few things to him everytime we saw him. He picked up the tut/click we do to him perfectly very quickly, but it depends on the bird really. Just keep going and let him carry on trying to pick things up- it goes quicker than you think it will.
I remember how excited we were when Turkey said his name the first time!! Congrats![]()
