That thing can't be the loudest thing in the house!

My tiel has taken to sitting on my shoulder while I vacuum and squawking constantly to be the loudest thing in the house over the vacuum, right in my ear he's such a weirdo. He isn't scared of it, I have to pick him up and move him if he's in the floor when I want to vacuum somewhere, he just dislikes anything being louder than he is!

Hahah Rory's like that!!! I only vaccuum when he's in his cage (as he's much smaller, and when I have the nozzle out to do round his cage it's best if he's away, for obvious reasons XD), but he'll sit there and watch me and then squawk until it's turned off It's the same if me and my friends are sitting in the lounge having a laugh, if we're noisy he'll shout to remind us he's there and that he's loud too

Heh, yeah, if my boyfriend starts talking and gets too loud we get "SQUAWK!" and if there is a long conversation you get "squawk, turkey bird, chirp, squawk" he just has to join in too. Movies all have "squawk, chirp, squawk" added to the dialogue too I think it's cute

That's too funny! I wonder if it' a male behavior because my little girlie doesn't seem to do that.

well that is funny/interesting, because my little boy is sooo like that. Anytime I'm vacuuming, Aaron is either on my shoulder loudly squawking & leaning waaaay over to watch my progress, or on the floor watching progress. If I'm mopping, he'll usually fly down to the exact area that is next to get cleaned & won't move till I pick him up (my poor back!). & you're right Marie, it's not a scared squawking - it's more of a "let's be really loud together" kinda thing! Always makes me laugh.

& any tv watching I do now is usually accompanied by Aaron's added dialogue. I think it's funny, too, but I bet if I lived w/a serious tv watcher, it might be a problem!

Watching a horror film is a lot less scary when you get "SQUAWK!!!" followed by a series of chunnering noises and kissy noises Gets on my brother's nerves though

Hmm. Getting on a brothers nerves, that is a bonus of bird ownership right?

I could loan you my mothers grey for the horror movies.. he would add blood curdling screams rather than kissy noises.

lol, that's a great idea! I love really scarey movies, & I'll probably get some ribbing about this, but there are some, like The Blair Witch Project, that I just can't watch again because it just scared the bejeezus out of me! But now that I have Aaron, maybe I could try those really scarey ones again!! Like you say, Aaron's additions to the screenplay might tone the creepy down!

My bird loves the vacuum.. He watches it goes back and forth and sometimes he will wolf whistle to it. Usually after I am done, he will start bopping his head wanting more.. I hate to admit it, Woodstock can be a bit strange when it comes to the vacuum, but I still adore him..

That would be hilarious, I wish Rory had a loud enough voice to do that

Oh it's cute and funny the first few times, but my mother always says she is glad that she lives out in the country... anytime he feels like he's being ignored, or he gets bored, it's screaming from a horror flick like a woman being murdered. I don't think it would work well in an apartment/small house situation would have the cops being called to see what the problem is he's so authentic in his noise!

My tiel does it every single hour. its so loud, sometimes wild birds come to our balcony to watch, and they rarely join in.
