RIP Woodstock - 09/07/2011
I have posted for input under Behavior Change in the cockatiel forums. I appreciate all the feedback that I have received.
My little guy past away last night. I had him at the vet on 8/25 and had the full annual avian exam. I noticed a change in his behavior a few on August 21, after losing my power for more than a day. He seemed to perk up after I brought him home from the vet and took right away to his new toys. I feel so awful right now. I wish I could have done more.

Aww!! I'm sooo sorry, Carolyn! I remember your posts concerning Woodstock when your power had been off. I am sending you a BIG HUG, because I know how devastating it is for you. You did EVERYTHING you could to save him by taking him to the Vet, and giving him so much LOVE! I'll be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers!
Fly High, Woodstock!! Over the Rainbow Bridge! We know that one fine day, you and Carolyn will be reunited as you pass over that Rainbow Bridge on the way to heaven! Rest in Peace!

Ellen,
Thank you again for your kindness. Keets and tiels are great creatures. I totally agree with you that this is a great community of animal lovers. I'm not quite ready yet for another feather friend, but I will be getting in contact with a breeder of tiels this upcoming spring. By then, I will be more than ready to give another feathered friend a good home. It's so funny how they become part of the family so quickly.. Thank you again for your thoughts and prayers..

Im really sorry to hear of your loss and as Ellen said you did everything you could by getting to the vet. We all feel like we wished we could have done more - I just lost my little tiel a few weeks ago and blame myself - it's a hard thing to overcome. Piper had a loving home with you and was well loved and treasured. These little beautiful adorable tiels get into our hearts - in fact animals do for animal lovers. I know that I treat mine as part of the family. My thoughts are with you.

Oh no I am so sorry about Woodstock, sometimes they hide things so well even the vets can't tell in time.

Re: RIP Woodstock - 09/07/2011
I would like to thank everyone for your thoughts and kindness. June 2010, I lost my lutino, named Piper. That's how I got my screen name "Pipers Mom". The vet used to call her Grandma because she was old. Woodstock grieved for about 3 months after she died. Woodstock was a great tiel too. He is missed very much. The house feels so empty without any birds right now, but I know in time, I most definitely will get another feathered friend and provide a good home with lot's of love.
Once again, thank you all for your kindness and support. It's nice to know that this community is filled with compassionate people who love their animals as part of the family, which they are.

Re: RIP Woodstock - 09/07/2011
Aww! It has to be very heart wrenching to lose both of your tiels in such a short period of time. I will hope and pray that by Spring you will be able to find a perfect and precious tiel for your home and life. As I have written before, "They come waltzing into our lives, and take ahold of our little fingers, wrapping their feet and toes around them like a piece of bright red ribbon, and that ribbon just weaves its way right into our heart and soul"! Thank you so much for your kind words to me and others from the community. We really do have a very fine group of people that stop by and share their fid experiences. It is just a normal part of my daily life to come to Tail Feathers and read the daily posts. Modern technology certainly has made "friends" of many who converse all around the world. What would we do without our computers? AND this community??! Personally, there would be an empty spot in my day without logging in here! PS I have a cousin who lives in Lansing!
