So, Twitter is now 6 months old. The last couple of weeks have been a challenge. He no longer does "Squawk" for me, and he hasn't been going in the nest for my husband (no little wing flutters). He seems to have bonded on my husband, but we still haven't seen a bow-coo or an egg (I hate surprises!). We have converted over to Harrison's pellets (grinding them/mixing with the mash seems to help), and I thought some of the agitated noises were based on the diet change. I love the constant chatter, I just don't like hearing sad noises.

We have Twitter on a pretty set schedule, but he has been getting us up earlier and earlier (It was still dark outside this morning!). He whined until I filled his dish with warm water, not the usual crappy room temperature water. The food dish wasn't to his liking (not full enough, though it is at the same level everyday), so he whined until I filled it. He did the "I want out" dance all morning, but pecked both of us when we tried to get him out. The charging and pecking is becoming more frequent. We left the door open so he could fly out, so he sat in the corner and whined about that, too. He pooped on his broccoli (because he kept walking on it), and then let me know that poopy broccoli was totally unacceptable (more whining until I got new broccoli). He will go to sleep for me, but my husband can't walk by the night-night cage after Twitter is in it.

He isn't showing signs of being ill... and when he does come out of his cage, he's as active and cuddly as ever (with my husband), though he did "attack" me when I got too close to the two of them. He has been flying around quite a bit more, and it appears he wants my husband to follow him. "C'mon! The curtain rod makes an awesome perch!". The cat sleeps right next to his cage because of the heat lamp, so he has been pulling out kitty hair - but not doing anything with it. He whines because the cat is close to the cage, he whines because the cat is sleeping and not paying attention to him. Whine, eat, and poop...

We treat all of our pets like children, so it drives me crazy when I hear any of them whining, crying, or making other not happy sounds. He does appear to be molting (we just opened the windows and turned off the A/C this week - huge temperature change) so that could be it? The new diet? Breeding time and he isn't sure what to do? Ugh...
