Question about feather color Loss
I have a pet type budgie when I got him he still had all of his baby bars(he is not necessarily his gender just what I call 'him') he is going threw his first molt now and seems to be losing feather color. when we go him I thought he was a fight cleared pie. But now he is getting in new feathers on his wings and where there was black before he is getting plain yellow or green feathers. Is this a normal thing. He seems very happy and it has not slowed him down at all but I was wondering. So I thought I would ask. I can't figure out how to move a pic from my album to this post.

You answered your own question. All bar headed babies lose the bars at the first molt.

??? are you trying to say you thought the bird was a clear flighted pied?
"He" should not be getting any markings on the flight feathers. This mutation has nothing to do with markings on the wings. UNLESS you are talking about Clear Wings then you are talking about the entire wing AND flight feathers - which will have no bar markings.
YOu might want to pick up a book or two on budgie color mutations. I really like ordering from http://www.abebooks.com THey have a GREAT number of books that cost less WITH shipping than you can buy in most book stores.

Re: Question about feather color Loss
I guess I was unclear what my question is why is he losing the black feathers all over his body they were black when we got him and now they are growing in plain yellow and green his flights had no color to begin with but now he is getting cleat feathers on the part of his wings that were patterned before I read about a mutation called "molted" where this happens but it was called a rare occurrence and said it was only prevalent in show birds. Is there a diffrent reason his feather patterned is changing?
Thanks
