nuage bird cages
anyone know if these bird cages are good? am an owner of a lovebird .. i plan on getting it a bigger cage in the future so am kind of looking for an another cage that is different then the one i have so i can switch up the cages..one that is conventional and one that is a bit more unconventional like this one here so it doesnt get bored with its home..kind of like people who have summer homes and winter homes....but are they cool for lovebirds or birds in general? i dont mind spending the money if its worth it..

Re: nuage bird cages
The size is nice and it would allow for a lot of flying in the cage, the ability to put basically a playstand in is cool too. But, I don't like the shape, I much prefer square cages for the birds well being (since they feel safer with a true corner to back into). And the backdropping is bound to be hard to clean, birds make huge messes. If you're going to spend that much, you could build an indoor aviary style cage and if you like the idea of scenery for them, place it on the wall behind the cage with a light mesh between the bars and the wall to catch the mess. Could make a really large one for the price they are charging.

its not "them" its just one bird..i have one lovebird and thats the only bird i have and plan on having ..what do you mean "backdrop" ? like the back of the cage..i think all you have to do is take the scenery and clean that...because it covers the actual back..

Re: nuage bird cages
The picture on the back, birds fling food and such so it would show every mess and look very messy. Plus pooping on it. lol Just seems a pain to clean.

Re: nuage bird cages
hmm i dunno...my bird doesnt seem to really make a huge mess with the cage i currently have...it doesnt fling its food or anything and when it poops..it always fall to the bottom and doesnt hit the sides or anything so i would imagine the back picture wouldnt really be a mess..aprrently i hear that these cages are actually very easy to clean because of some special design of some sort...hey let me ask yu something..you ever had your lovebird jump of your shoulder...poop..and then jump back on as if it knew not to poop on you? i took it out for a long car ride and it didnt poop for a LONG time and then when it finally did..it jumped of me and then pooped and then jumped back onto my shoulder as if it knew not to poop on me..is that just a random occurrence or is my lovebird learning?

Re: nuage bird cages
hey so do you think i should get it?..i dont think the backdrop will get dirty but yea cleaning it may be a bit of a mission... i have another cage about as big as that one..the other one is a square one and its bigger in dimension but shorter..cleaning it is easy though..all i do is take it outside and hose it down with strong force of water and then spray the cage with bird disinfect which makes it easy because there is no scrubbing because the force of water takes of all the poop.... the reason i want to get this one also is because its differnt then normal cages..and i already have a normal cage so i can switch it up maybe every 6 months like a summer home and winter home or whatever so the bird doesnt get bored of its cage seeing how it will have two cages completely different from each other..plus i can switch up the senarios in the background every month.. .. i would imagine the senario in the background would be extremely relaxing for the bird..

Re: nuage bird cages
Personally, I wouldn't use it because everyone I know with acrylic/plexiglass on their cages finds it hard to clean. And it's not a square, which birds feel safer in. But it's up to you. I think you could probably get something nicer for the cost though, to be honest, if you look around a bit.
Btw, birds prefer wider rather than taller. So the other one not being as tall isn't that big an issue.

i dunno i kind of have my heart set on this one because it looks like a palace lool..its like a house for a king bird LOL ..can you link me some of these nicer cages that you think i can get..because i have looked around ..only problem is that this one being as unconventional as it is is what captured me because i figured..i already have a good sized regular looking cage but its going to need a vocation cage lool..which has to be classy and unconventional and this one was perfect..all the other ones i saw are like my cage except just bigger and has no senary or anything special as far as the setup and its only for one bird so it doesn't have to be like a in door aviary...hmm i did see a nice one at the aviary i got the bird at maybe i should go check out the stores..if u can link me of cages you like that would be cool to..thanks!

Re: nuage bird cages
ahahah i realized i prob will end up getting it a different cage ...everytime i have my heart set on something i end up realizing its not good for the bird..for example i wanted to originally get the vision bird cages for my lovebird but then people kept telling me that lovebirds love to chew of the things that connect the cage so i couldnt get the vision hagen bird cage and had to get this other one which is okay to haha...let see what happens this time..thanks

Re: nuage bird cages
The cages we think are cool are usually not great for birds. Plexi glass tank style ones don't let in the air to circulate enough, ones with pretty decoration can often trap toes etc
I do know people who have kept lovebirds in the larger vision cages- but usually only as a travel or spare care- they're not really big or sturdy enough for them long term imo. I had my fischer's Sammy in one for a while- he stripped the bar coating lol
Now he has a huge montana cage- not much to look at but sturdy, secure and safe. And a smaller open top cage that i got for around £25 online which we use when we travel.
I think the best cages are usually the boring square ones with half horizontal and half vertical bars for climbing and acrobatics, and then gilled with lots of toys, perches and interesting things to play with. IMO better to get the cheaper, more boring cage and spend the difference on cool things to fill it with!
Plus- square or oblong cages are MUCH better to arrange. When you have curves, plastic walls, different levels and pitched roofs etc it can be really difficult to set it up well. You go to put something in a find that it slides on the roof, or it's can't grip the angled wall bars, or the corner angle prevents this toy or that, or the perche and toys end up overlapping and getting pooped on.
Complete PITA.
Plus if you get a heavy cage with a good grate (i like montana) you can put an upright java branch in it like a tree- or get a smaller playstand and put in. Tho it will most likely get pooped all over again, and actually most lovies I know would object to the floor space being used. Few things that Sammy likes better than kicking his toys all over the floor lol

Thanks Lee for the adorable sig!

Re: nuage bird cages
yea i think your right...what am gonna do is maybe do what marrie said..get a beautiful picture and put it behind the cage so it can have something to look at and get a sqaure cage..and i know what you mean about the top being sqaure because my cage is a triangle top and the freaking toys always slide down and its hard to get a good setup going..i have to be extremely creative because its so limited but i change it every week after washing the entire cage but its getting kind of hard lol..i think am going to look arond for a good safe cage...the aviary where i got the bird has a lot of good ones..

Re: nuage bird cages

Re: nuage bird cages
Hello!
I came across your post from last September. I own and use a Nuage Cage for my African Grey parrot. Some things that I like and dislike about the cage that I hope may be helpful to you. I bought it BEFORE they came out with the parrot cage and had to modify the door used wire to change it to a swing-open door rather than a slide up door) since it was designed for smaller birds. It is roomy enough for my parrot. I purchased the cage with all wire sides so there would be good ventilation. The cage is quite lightweight (thin, light wire bars) mounted on the wall with with a thin metal channel attached to the wall with molly bolts. The coated-cardboard background goes directly against the wall on two sides; the three wire sides fit into the brace and the lid sits on top. The background is appears to be printed on white corrugated heavy cardboard and coated with which makes it cleanable with a damp cloth. My parrot has never gotten food or 'poop' on the background. HOWEVER, being a parrot, he chewed holes in the background and there is nothing between the cardboard and the wall so after destroying the background, the parrot could easily begin chewing holes in the wall. I had to buy a new background which I covered with 1/4" clear plexiglass-like sheets. That ended the chewed background problem. The cage has no wire mesh on the bottom. It is designed to use corncob litter on the bottom. There is a clean out hole in the bottom of the cage to sweep the litter out. I put a thick layer of the corn cob litter on the bottom weekly. It absorbs and clumps the droppings which I scoop out (as one would do with a kitty litter box) frequently to discourage bacterial growth. I put a waste basket beneath the cage weekly and sweep the litter out the clean-out hole, wipe the bottom and add clean litter.
The second problem I had was the plastic cover over the clean-out hole: my parrot chewed it also. I replaces it with two small metal sheets that holes for a bolt in the center. I put one sheet over the clean-out hole inside the cage and one outside, inserted the bolt through the metal plates and secured them with a wing nut underneath. That problem solved. The cone-shaped lid prevents me from throwing a cloth over the cage at night but I solved that problem by sewing a helm into the cloth and inserting magnets into the hem. Now the cage cover easily attaches to the lid to cover the bars for bedtime.
The cage is not intended to attach perches and food dishes to the bars but I have done so. It works but detracts from the look of the cage and the 'view' of the bird and background. It is designed to have a large free-standing grape vine branch resting on the floor of the cage. I have recently ordered one and intend to screw the feed dishes into it.
I talked by phone to the couple who designed and make the cages detailing my experience with the cage and encouraged them to make a sturdier, more parrot friendly version which they have done. I encourage them to make swing-out doors to hold the food dishes which they did. However, I didn't mention that the dishes should not be along the bottom where they can be soiled by the bird droppings.
With all those 'issues' I still must say that I really am glad I bought the Nuage cage. My parrot adjusted to the new cage quickly. He has corners where the bars meet the background but I don't see him spending any time in the corners. He spends quite a bit of time outside the cage but asks to "go home" when he wants his quiet time alone. I am more diligent now about making sure I give him ample chew toys in his cage, especially when I am gone running errands for awhile and he is left alone. Things I love about the cage: having it off the floor and hanging in the corner frees up some floor space. It looks beautiful and actually adds to the beauty of the room rather than detracts from it.

Re: nuage bird cages
I have a 56 inch nuage cage with the clear front. I love it!!! I have had it now for a little over a year and have my 2 lovebirds Peaches and Fuzz are in the cage. I can not even begin to tell you how much I love the cage, and I know if Peaches and Fuzz could tell you they would tell you how much they love it too!! Ever since I put them in the cage you can see how happy and secure they feel. Having the cage mounted so securly on the wall gives my babies such a great since of security. My cage is mounted in the corner very close to our patio sliding door, and even with the amount of people coming in and out it doesn't alarm them like the old cage did when people came close to the cage.
They have plenty of room and I have lots of toys for them to play with. They are up high now and look down on everybody, you can tell they love that!! Our cat Bootsie even likes the cage, she can sit and stares all she wants and can't get to it!! Even if she tries she can't knock it over like our old cage. It is super easy to clean, and I like just sweeping the litter out the bottom. No more "poop" pilling up on the wire bottom. I always keep my cage clean but that old wire bottom was a mess. Plus no more poop on the walls, the background washes off real easy, and they way the designed it there isn't as much seed that gets spilled out onto the floor like the old cage. I have a timer set to the light that is built in the cage so they know when it is bed time... It is so beautiful! If I could figure out how to post pictures on here I would. IMHO it was well worth the money.
