My first, rather unexpected post in the budgie forums... Introducing our new budgies!

Well we went to the BFBS national birdshow today so I could buy tons of new toys for my lovies. My little bro tagged along. Every year we enter the raffles and I usually win some junk for lovebirds like toys and treats. This year I won two bird toys, a book, and a shirt.

But this year, this year my brother won.... A PAIR OF ENGLISH BUDGIES. Complete with a (too small) cage, and 3 toys.
I nearly fell over when they called his name. Totally unexpected!! ((That's the last time I take that child to a bird show! Eek!))

    So here they are:

    Articuno (male),

    And Zapdos (female)

    Or Uno&Dos for short.

I'm probably going to be hanging around the budgie forums a lot because these guys were a total surprise and I am totally uninformed on their care

    .....Abu......Rafiki...... Zuri.....

They are sooooooooooooooooo cute! Articuno is a really striking color. I don't believe I've ever seen one that color. Zapdos is also a very unique colored bird. I LOVE budgies! I've had them in my life for many years. They are generally a very hardy bird, love to play and swing, and their "chatter and chirping" are not loud or overwhelming. How lucky to have won them!

Nice Grey cock and Grey Green hen.

Are you all going to start breeding English? If so you need to get the breeder info off their leg bands and contact him/her for pedigree info. Lots of fun breeding and showing English budgies!

What beautiful birdies! And which of you is the Pokemon fan? Or are you both?

I got suckered in a different way, in 2007. (I used the term 'suckered' affectionately.)I had recently had to give up my cat (as when I moved, where I lived was unsuitable, too many big roads) and went into a pet shop. My friend and I had recieved compensation for our forced relocation (to make way for the Olympic village) and saw these two bugs by themselves in this big cage, I assume the kast of a bigger batch, and we fell in love. We made a snap decision (my bad, I know) and bought one each, plus food, toys perches, grit (which I found out on here NOT to give) a book on their care, and a cage for them. Not long after I found here.

Here I am four years later, Lawrence (mine) and Jukie (my friend's) have great big cage and pretty much have us well-trained LOL! And we are incredibly lucky that they don't seem inclined to breed (well, Lawrence sometimes seems to try and cozy up with her, but Julie's having none of it! although the little madam leads him on long enough to get fred by him than drives him off!)

I was sane once, but I got better.

    My baby boy, Lawrence.
