Dove scratched by cat. :(
Hi there,
Last night my dove, Mac was scratched by my cat. My Mum didn't realise she was in the room, and came in to find she was sticking her front leg through the cage bars.
I understand that the first 8-12 hours is critical, we rushed him to the vet almost immediately and he's now on antibiotics. He was in shock for a wee while, but he's very friendly and came out of it pretty quick.
Is there anything more I can do for him? I have him in my room now, in a cat carry cage next to my heater, he has perked up a lot this morning and is still eating & drinking. I'm just scared that he'll get blood poisoning, and that maybe the AB's won't work.
Mum washed the wound last night, with saline solution, I don't know if that will help at all. Should I keep doing this? Or just keep him dry and warm?
Thanks in advance!

What did the vet say about the wound?
I think follow whatever they say is what you do. And I think tht washing the wound won't do much now. i mean clean is clean. and I'm assuming the vet cleaned it for you.
I would just try and keep him quiet, still and warm. Move the food and water to wherever he's wanting to sit so he doesn't have to move about too much. Unless the vet said something else.

Thanks Lee for the adorable sig!
