Just to bring this forum upto date.
Here is a very simple, cheap, easy to make Pool, my Fids use for drinking and playing in.
I had been trying to come up with something for them that was easy to clean.
My thinking had been going down the wrong track and I looked at alsorts of things I could buy.
Then I hit on this design.
Ricky was in it almost as soon as it was turned on, as you can see in the first vid. The second one is with Roxy (RIP) and Max playing around and Ricky coming down as if to say what are you guys doing in my pool? Max took Ricky on about this.

The build is. The bottom of a rubbish bin, a piece of plastic cut to fit inside of it and the two white tubes are to hold the sheet up. A small fish tank circulation pump. And a pottery square dish for the pond. And it runs a few times a day on a time clock.

Warning: if your birds chew things you will have to think about how to protect the cable for the pump.
