Are plastic toys safe?
Can anyone tell me how safe those plastic pieces are that are sold for making parrot toys?
I've been avoiding anything plastic for my birds, but I bought a toy made of leather thongs with wooden beads attached that I hadn't noticed has 2 plastic parts. My birds seem to love those pieces of plastic, so I'm thinking of maybe getting some plastic parrot toys.
I'm just worried about how safe the plastic is. I would suppose that if they're sold for parrots, they would be okay, but I still would love to hear from anyone who has experience with them. My conure goes through the wood beads like they were candy and I'd hate for him to have an accident with plastic.
Thank you all in advance!!

Re: Are plastic toys safe?
What type of bird are you making the toy for? Macaws or budgies?
Do the plastic toy have parts that can be easily bit off by small birds?
When making toys think like the type of bird you are making them for. Then put yourself in the birds place and say "HOW BEST CAN I KILL MYSELF ON THIS TOY?" and go from there.
If you making toys for big birds don't use things that can shatter or parts can be chewed off.

Well, actually I'm not going to make them. I was just wondering about the safety of the ones already made for birds. Has anyone had any issues with birds chewing off pieces?
