Balding Around Vent
One of my 4 month old budgies is balding around his vent, he had this when we first picked him up from the store. His stool looks normal in consistency, nothing that would indicate diarrhea. We never see him or his cage mate pulling feathers out of the area. We purchased them from bird store that sells birds from local breeders. He was in a cage with multiple other budgies. He also seems to have a lump in the vent area as indicated in the picture.
I have read on the internet one such possibility could be other budgie cage mates picking out the feathers.

Re: Balding Around Vent
hi bluehabit...i'd be more concerned about the lump...and if it was me i'd go visit my avian vet and get it checked out...and you can also ask about the bald spot at the same time..
if it is something to worry about then the sooner you get it checked out the better...if not...then at least your mind has been put at rest..
what the heck are they doing anyway?...lol.

Re: Balding Around Vent
Keep an eye on the lump. It could mean health problems. As for the balding of vent, that would keep a bird cleaner. No poop stuck to feathers in that area.
