Re: eggs,budgies and hollidays
A good breeder puts thought into their breeding program. That means WHEN they will be going on holiday and plan around that event. (A breeder is ANYONE who attaches a nest box to the side of the cage. It has nothing to do with how much livestock a person has.)
Take the nest box out of your cage and toss the eggs. Your hen is NOT going to stay on the nest while in the car. NEVER expect a bird sitter to provide the involved care nesting birds need. Feeding fresh veggies everyday. These are YOUR birds. YOU should know what is normal for them and what is not. YOU have read a good number of books on breeding so YOU know the warning signs when problems crop up like a hen when she is egg bound. What do you expect a bird sitter to do if your birds turn out to be bad parents. Do you really expect them to hand feed YOUR chicks for you? As you know from your research on breeding budgies, these birds feed through the night. That means the breeder should be hand feeding their chicks through the night too. If you don't, the results are stunted chicks.
Breeding can be done all year long. This is an example of a breeder who has put -0- thought into it.

That was harsh, but I agree with what was said. Take the nest box out and toss the eggs. after you come home, research all you can before replacing that nest box, reading books isn't enough-
sorry.
