Orange Poop
I've had birds for a while, but recently noticed my sun conures poop is sometimes orangish. I'm thinking it may be related to pellets. Has anyone else ever seen anything like this?

Re: Orange Poop
It really could be his pellets. I bird sit a Amazon and he loves to eat the fruity pellets and his poops are always very colorful after he eats them. He likes the red ones the best and his poops come out scary red.
Fly Free Boomer, we will forever love you.

Thanks-it was pretty scary the first time I noticed it but when I saw that sometimes it was normal and sometime orange/reddish I thought maybe it was okay,

Re: Orange Poop
Yeah, sometimes Rose eats the pellets in her mix, sometimes she doesn't, but when she does, her poop turns pink. I actually was so scared that I asked the vet at work, and he kinda laughed it off, and told me to check her food for anything red-colored...sure enough, pellets. As long as it's not a dark brownish-rust-red, I think you're fine.
Around here, bird fluff is a condiment...

Another thing to keep a look out for in color change is the urate changing - the droppings change with whatever they eat, but the urate should always be white. And if you don't like the rainbow droppings, you can switch to a dye free pellet, some people do (makes stains on clothes less obvious anyway )
