Male budgie jealous/angry at/of homosexual females
I have 3 Budgies. 2 Female 1 Male
The male got both the ladies, depending on which is closer to him, but since yesterday, the two females are showing homosexual behavior (Beak tapping, regurgitating food, preening, etc).. Pretty much everything the male did to the females, but one of the females shows signs of being ready to mate, only when she's with the other female (Lifting up tail)
This morning I woke up cause they were chirping LOUDLY and I looked over and watched them. Each time the females would go to beak tap each other, the male tries to attack their faces and he chirps at them, then if they're not doing anything, he doesn't care.
Is this normal behavior? >.> It's not like he's gonna seriously hurt them, but I'm really concerned because I had my mind set to breeding him with one of the females and I bought a set of two breeding cages which are supposed to come in tomorrow, and i was gonna buy a second male, and have one pair per cage, but now I'm scared because I'm one of those people who don't wanna separate two things in love, even if their cages are gonna be right next to each other.

Re: Male budgie jealous/angry at/of homosexual females
Oh PLEASE! These are animals NOT humans. In "love" give me a break. Budgies do NOT pair bond. You can change partners up **IF** the hen agrees to the pairing. From this post alone you sound like you have yet to pick up a book or two on breeding. There is more to it than just tossing 2 birds in a cage with a nest box. There is WAY too much written on the subject to make your birds be your first learning curve. Are you birds even on a good diet yet? Meaning are they eating fresh veggies, fruits, soft foods with seed being a 2nd thought? If your going to get a 2nd cock you need to wait at least 30 days or are you not concerned with the French Molt virus affecting your first set of chicks?
If your going to be a breeder, (if you pair up any birds to produce any offspring you ARE a breeder) do it right. I'm gald to read that you are going to have individual breeding cages. But go all the way and do the homework on the subject so IF problems crop up you will KNOW what problems look like.

Maybe you should seperate the females if your trying to breed baby budgies, but it's natural for birds to do that, it can happen!
