Hi! Jemma, and welcome to the forum! Have you had your little keet for awhile or is it brand new to your home? There are lots of folks who stop buy the forum on a regular basis and I'm sure someone will be able to answer your question. I have had budgies for many years but never was presented with the challenge of having one that had only one half of a wing. One other thing you might consider is to post a picture of your little "rosey" and perhaps someone will be able to give you more info after they see its wing.

"She's lost half of her one wing." Are you saying her flights were clipped or was she pinioned?
I would set up the cage so she would hop from perch to perch to get higher in the cage. Swings would be out, unless this is only a feather clipping episode.

If the bird is disabled rather than clipped, I know a lot of people with disabled birds buy flat platform perches to go with the regular perches, since it can be easier for them to sit on a flat surface if their balance is off from an injury.

Re: I"m New! But I need serious help!!!
We've had birds before and have several others now. She was originally my great grandma's bird but came to be ours after my grandma passed away. The whole time she owned this bird, it never had any out time. Molly, the rosie bourke, is actually extremely sweet and loves riding around in pockets. To add, because she never had flying time, her wings were weak and she had poor balance. We also have 2 eclectes parrots which we normally do not let out of the cages at the same time as the other birds or if we do, they go out on the stand were we can keep an eye on them. My dad let all the birds out at once and one of the eclectuses broke Molly's wing. It was mostly healed and stabalizing but she picked of it to the point that the broken half came off. Now I'm looking for ways to make her happy and comfortable. She is still eating and chirping happily at us but at this time, she is still limited to a small hospital cage. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Re: I"m New! But I need serious help!!!
Personally, I would make an appointment with an Avian Vet to have her checked out. Birds are very clever and intelligent and they hide their pain and illnesses (if any) very effectively. Perhaps the vet could "set the wing" or put a little "brace"/cast" on the wing. Or in the alternative perhaps he could put something on the wing to protect her life. She really doesn't have any "defense" so to speak for any thing that might be dangerous in her cage and/or out of her cage right now. I hope this info was helpful to you.
