    Cockatiel rubbing rear?

My 18 month old Cockatiel Snuggles has started to take an interest in my dressing gown. At first he would walk back and forth over the neck part, and yesterday he sat on the same spot rubbing his butt there, and made a little laughing sound. He has also started to explore a lot more. Any ideas.

Um, the "laughing sound" if it's the noise I think it is, well, it's actually like a cockatiel moan. My male makes the same noise when he's doing his rubby dance on something and _really_ enjoying it. They rub their tails on things to masturbate. Yours is sexually mature now, so it looks like he found out what his idea of a rubby toy is. If you don't want your dressing gown to be that, pick him up and place him on a more appropriate area.

I dont think he is rubbing his rear on your shoulder

I thought that was what my lovebird was doing until I really looked and realized he was rubbing "something else".

I am not wearing the dressing gown when he does it.

Is it a little like this:

That's our boy being too friendly with a cushion. We normally don't let him do this!
