Hoarse Tiel

My rescue tiel seems fine other than he is hoarse....also appears to be molting. Any connection? I am their foster and have had them since 10/1 and noticed that only the one is hoarse (about 2 weeks) and is also molting.

Birds don't get hoarse when they are molting. A change in their voice usually means a respiratory issue. I would take him to a vet to have his crop/lungs checked out.

I agree with Marie, they say if the chirp changes it means something is wrong.

I am happy you are taking him to the vets. Please let us know what they say and hopefully for some odd reason his voice just changed.

Like both Deanna and Marie mentioned, there is something definitely wrong. Respiratory infections are treatable usually with antibiotics. Please keep us posted on any changes in it's health.
