    Cockatiel Swallowed Something?

I took my cockatiel to the vet because he was holding his wing out and I thought an old injury had come back. When they did an xray, his wings were fine, but they found something in his stomach! I have a .jpg of the xrays, but I'm not sure how to post them here. I can't begin to imagine what he might have swallowed, it looks like a crumpled up gum wrapper.

Any help on how to post the pics?

    Thank you
    Donna

Did the vet suggest surgery to remove it? Tiels will swallow things if they can, they don't know any better. Hope he'll be OK!

I too hope he will be OK. What did the vet say about it and how are they going to treat it?

She said we could try a binding prescription and that if it's metal, it will help to pull out the small particals. Then, we should x-ray again and if it's not gone, do surgery. He's eating and going to the bathroom normally. He wants his head rubbed constantly, but that isn't new

I wish I knew how long it has been in there and what it is. I'm hoping it will pass, I've been watching him closely.

    Thank you for the replies.

How very scary for you and your bird, I do hope it ends up to pass through him quickly. I would be watching him closely too if I were you and also giving him as many headrubs as he wants.

I know you will be watching him for any changes in his eating, poops and behaviour and if any of these things change I would call the vet right back so they can treat him with different meds. They thought my bird had metal in his gut years ago and it ended up being tile grout he chewed off the floor but it was a scary thing to need to give him the meds to detoxify his body until we got the metal tests back on him. If its this smelly sulfur like medicine be sure to watch him closely, they gave it to boomer and it made his heart go crazy. I knew something was wrong because he was getting sicker each time I gave him the medicine. They said it was a rare reaction but since it happened to boomer I thought I would warn you.

My thoughts are with you and your bird and please keep us updated.
