    What does shaking tail means?

Baylee had been feeling much better since yesterday and just after she grooms herself she shakes her tail from side to side she did it 3 times today! i dont know why and Hannah never does this...

*shrug* My tiel does that most the time after he does a real good grooming, he fans out his tail feathers and shakes it out, like a dog wagging their tail. Not sure it means anything.

Boomer would do it when he was happy, sort of like shaking with excitement when he did it. Or sometimes he would do it when a tail feather got twisted or stuck on another feather so if she keeps doing it make sure none of her tail feathers got bent and is stuck in a weird position.

Chester used to do it too after grooming himself... but i had never seen Hannah doing that. I just checked and none of her tail feathers are bent or twisted.

Mine does that after a bath. I suppose it's to shake off the dandruff after he had preened his back.

Re: What does shaking tail means?

My lovie does the same thing after he grooms...Olive also does when I get home from work in the am or other times when he hasn't groomed himself... If your bird is doing this after she grooms then its just a grooming thing...If she's doing it when she sees you then she's saying she's both excitied and happy to see you...I happened to google it because I thought it odd that my lovie did the tail shake even when he didn't groom. But I noticed it evn when he didn't when I was away for a few hours..
