Proud Owner of two 7wk old Budgies
Hi,
I now have two beautiful new 7wk old budgies. One is powder blue and the other is white with turquoise back and tail. Not sure what sex but the store owner said she thought they were boys because they did not bite and hold on and scissor cut and they talked a lot to each other . I know that was more talk than anything??? I do have a question....should I keep them separated in different rooms or just let them stay together? They seem to be bonded when I take them out of each other sight and the powder blue one gets really wild without the other one in the cage. Also, my other budgie that meet an untimely death would play with his toys. These do not get off the perch but to eat and drink. They are not as active as my other one will that change? Thanks for any advise you can give.

Re: Proud Owner of two 7wk old Budgies
Welcome,
If they are bonded, I wouldn't separate them, it would add stress to them that they don't need. If they are a male/female pair, there are steps you can take to prevent eggs (if you browse around the breeding sections, lovie has the most detailed I believe and the same tricks work for nearly all bird species) which you can find information about in the forums. The not playing etc is normal since they are new. Let them settle in before you will know their real personalities. 7 weeks is also pretty young. To sex budgies you can tell by the color of their cere, so pictures may get you some answers on what gender they are (not sure if there is an age requirement there, I am more experienced with tiels than budgies).
