i recntly got a bird just about a week he is not allways skitish he seems to be getting use to my hand an today i open the door the same hing i have been doing for the last days and he flew out which is good he comes on my fingr someimes but not when i want him too so now the thing to get him back in the cage and e only seem to be a day bird as soon as 4pm comes he is very quiet is this good

It will takes lots of time and patience to train your little budgie. It sounds like you are already making progress if he is stepping up onto your finger. All birds are afraid of human hands. One thing you can try to entice him back into the cage is to offer him a treat such as a piece of millet, or a favorite veggie or fruit that he likes. Perhaps laying a piece of millet on top of his cage (only when he is out of the cage), will help bring him back to his home. I think it is very normal for him to quiet down some in the late afternoon. Birds live by instincts of nature, and where you are located in the Caribbean, the environment in the late afternoon probably makes him that way. Good luck with your new little friend!
