Am I Right in Thinking This is Mating Behavior?
Usually when Dorienne gets "nesty" she just gets really bitey and irritated at...well...everything, and chews anything she can find. But this time around it's lasting longer and she's exhibiting what I call her "exhibitionist" behavior. Her cage door folds down so she goes and sits on it, spreads her wings out completely but doesn't fly, and sticks her tail straight up in the air.
She's also done this once to my male cockatiel, who wanted nothing to do with her because he can't stand his little "sister".
Is this mating behavior and is she "presenting" herself as open for business, or does she just have a few wires crossed, so to speak? (mentally... yes, it's a joke.)
Around here, bird fluff is a condiment...

Yeah she is presenting herself as "open for business". From what you describes Jen she wants a male mate.

Well, she's gonna have to settle for her own toys because the cockatiel sure isn't interested and he's the only male bird around here. Poor Dor-dor.

I have a cockatiel that does that but we dont know if its a girl or a boy. It would sit on its perch and just spread out its wings almost over its head and it kinda tilts forward a bit. Its kinda funny cause its almost like its saying "look what I can do!" LOL And also "strike a pose" all in the same time. LOL
