Umbrella cockatoo cuddles with me only when scared of me????? Plz help

So my umbrella cockatoo (3 to 5 yrs old, female) has been doing something that for some reason guilts me.
She has been running away from me.....except whe she's afraid she is going to get hurt or some thing. If she is in a corner and I go up to her, she lauches herself off balance onto my lap or against my armpit area and turns her head, so I snuggle her. But if she is in the middle of the room or sees any possible escape rout she runs for it. One second she runs then next she is cuddling!!!
I think she beleives I will hurt her or something so she runs, but if she knows she can't escape then she plays suck up, or tries to get me to feel loving toward her so I won't "hurt her".
I have never hurt her and we were her only owners so I don't know of a possible memory that she could be associating this with.
For some reason I feel that I'm threatening to hit her unless she snuggle with me, but I'm not. I gues she thinks it so it causes me to believe it. I guese its a mental thing.
I really love her and would greatly apreciate anything at all from a solution to a guese, or a "it will be ok" to a "???don't know?? Its not ur fault"
It really guilts me to the point of a stumache ache and I'm not exagerating.

Hmm. Has anything spooked her lately? A loud noise, even unintentionally? Are you wearing anything new - a new lotion, perfume, a color you never usually wear, etc? I wonder if maybe she's running at first because she doesn't like something on YOU instead of you specifically, then she realizes it is you and comes back for a snuggle. If birds are really afraid you'll hurt them, they won't come near you for anything.
