Brand New Egg
Hello. Mom of 1 Cockatiel-P'nut.
Hi,
I'm Liz and my Tiel P'nut is almost 4 months old. She was given to me by our 17 year old daughter.
I've been married 20 years and have 4 kids. Our youngest is17 and the only one left at home.
We also have our lab/mix Crush and our sweet rat Tatty.
I'm here to learn as much as I can about P'nut. She was hand raised. My husband has built her a gym and we are figuring out what she wants and is trying to tell us. She can wolf whistle. step up, and is just starting to do a little mimicking. She will finall allow me to hand feed her. She is bonded to me but will tolerate the rest of my family.
I have severe medication resistant rheumatoid arthritis and am unable to work. I am loving training her and bonding with her.
I have a lot of questions so I am off to scour the message boards.

Welcome!
It sounds like a cockatiel is a great bird for you! I think they are very loving and easy to work with, and very content to snuggle or hang out if you are not super mobile. I used to study for hours with my old tiel Sam.

Re: Hello. Mom of 1 Cockatiel-P'nut.
Hi, Liz, and welcome to the community!! Your P'nut sure is a "keeper". She/He is sooooooooo cute! If you are wondering why I added "he", male tiels LOVE to wolf whistle, whereas "most" females don't do much whistling. This is not to say you P'nut is a male however. My little tiel hen, Ollie, does a "wolf whistle" every once in awhile but not all of the time. I'm soooo happy that you daughter brought P'nut into your home. It is great that you can bond with her and have a daily routine with her. I have osteoarthritis, and I am visited by "Dr. Arthritis" on many occasions when I wish he would just stay away! (lol) I have a cousin who has rhumatoid, and from what he has told me, rhumatoid is much more challenging.
Hope to see more pics of P'nut one day soon. See you around the forums! Good luck with P'nut!!
