    No.
And even if you could, WHY would you want to produce mules?
No responsible breeder goes out of their way to do this.

Then if you have bothered to do the minimal amount of home work on your birds - picked up a book on finches - you would already know that the Society Finch is man made.

well how do you explain my socieaty finch and zebra finch making a nest and getting ready to mate its logical that any bird could cross breed they just got to be from the same famaly of breed. im not saying your wrong but if ive done the reaserch and i saw with my own eyes that they both can mate so im gonna need a littel bit more proof before i jump to conclusions.

Re: owner and wanting to breed two different types of finches

If given nesting materials and hormones encouraged any two birds will build a nest, Kerry never said they cant mate, just that they can't reproduce. But cross breeding is very frowned on in the breeding world, it corrupts the species bloodlines and babies come out sterile usually. Pick up a good book on breeding before you take any steps, there is a lot to know and maybe try to find a finch breeder in the area who can teach you the ropes. Even if they can breed, you risk the mother and chicks if you go into it without proper research. You should be comfortable handfeeding, know the genetics of both birds, have an avian vet, have both on a proper breeding diet, etc.

To make your search easier, in the bird world the terminology is species, there are no breeds.
