Brand New Egg
Have a question......
Hey there....well the baby was 6 weeks old yesterday and is doing great....just waiting to see him eating and he's ready for his new home.....seeing how he was my first one I've hatched I've had a great time raising him.....my question is.......when I went to get him out to handle him just a bit ago.....I let the parents raise him.....I opened the box and there in there with him is an egg......is the baby more likely to break the egg.....will the parents be kicking the baby out here shortly because of her laying eggs and if so will that be okay seeing how he's 6 weeks.........or should I just take the egg out......I am wanting another clutch so I am not sure on what to do......any info. would be appreciated........thanks......

Re: Have a question......
Since it is so soon after having their last clutch I would wait to let them have another. You can take the egg out, hard boil it, and replace it. When they see it isn't hatching they'll leave it alone. They may also lay more eggs though...I would also recommend this for the other eggs too. Or you can shake the eggs to scramble the yolk.

Re: Have a question......
I was wondering about that also.....but didn't know since they only had that one chick last time if it would bother them to have another and then let them rest for a few months......

Re: Have a question......
It's not just how many chicks they had last time but how many eggs she laid. Raising babies is very taxing but so is egg laying. It takes a lot out of the hens. I breed my birds at most twice a year....with long breaks in between.
