Re: what will my babies possibly look like??
If there's no hidden mutations, they will all look like the Dad.

ok thanks! so daddy is the peachface(on the top/left) and mommy is the yellow(cinnamon?)

Re: what will my babies possibly look like??
I just assumed the mother was the pallid (aka american cinnamon) because I see a swelling that looks like an egg is on the way
If mother is the green then it's a different story!

Sam, I think you meant to say "pallid (aka Australian Cinnamon)". :-)

Re: what will my babies possibly look like??
Whatever parent they look like won't matter, as both parents look good.

Yes I did indeed! That's what I get for posting at stupid o'clock!
It can matter what parent they look like, because you could sex the young from their mutation and save on DNA :P

how do you do this?

Re: what will my babies possibly look like??
Pallid is a sex-linked mutation.
If the father is the pallid, then you would get pallid daughters and green males. (sexable)
If mother is the pallid, then you would get green/pallid males and green females (not sexable)

Re: what will my babies possibly look like??
and if you get babies in the nest with red eyes it will tell you dad is split ino and you can sex them...genetics I dont if I love learning it or hate what it does to my brain...
Sam I think its always stupid o'clock in Aus at the moment...Oh yeah if a lut h and green c pair have a cin baby can that still be visually sexed?

Yes, if an Ino hen and green male have a cinnamon baby then that baby is female.

Re: what will my babies possibly look like??
sex linked is a little confusing but I find remembering ino and cin babies easy and you can tell what they are when they hatch by their down colour, I would wait til all have hatched before opening the nest to look coz the parents can be a bit jittery when they are new to babies.
This is a good way to tell from a rough idea of what is in your nest works for all lovebirds and even most other parents well that I have bred anyway.
White/grey down = blue series babies
orange/peach down = green series babies.
dark eyes = no ino or cinnamon
ren eyes = ino (lutino or creamino in masked and fischers can be albino too)
plumb eyes = cinnamon
I can try find some baby pics to show you what I mean by all that if you like.
