I have also put a nesting box in their cage but do you need to put something inside the box before you put it in the cage?
    like shredded paper or something?

Re: Are my budgies likely to breed?

Hi! Britany, Several years ago, I had a budgie pair who used a nest box. At that time I did lots of research on budgie breeding, and the information I found was to not put any thing in the bottom of the wooden box, because the hen "molds her body" to the bottom of the box, when she sits on the eggs, and doesn't need anything else in the box. Of course, I'm sure there are some breeders who may use nesting materials. I do know they sell them. You can find all kinds of information on "budgie breeding" on the web, and even right here on this forum. I would suggest you google "information on budgie breeding", if you don't find the info you need here, and read all about the process because breeding birds, and having baby birds, is no easy task. There are many things that can go wrong with the process, and on occasion one or both of the parents could die, as well as the fact the eggs may not hatch, or the baby chicks might hatch, but could die afterwards.

I hope this information is helpful to you. Good Luck!

Re: Are my budgies likely to breed?

    Thanks for replying!
My budgies are still a pair but they are not close enough to each other to breed and just recently I separated the birds to tans them....I've tried taming them tonnes of time but now I decide it's better to separate then tame them together!
My male budgie is actlly tamer then I thought he let me scratch his tummy the moment he wasn't with my female Green!
And especially cause it was a smaller cage.. But anyway I was really surprised!
I haven't taught him step up yet cause I just want him used to my finger being near his chest and stomach before I try to push him onto my finger!
He is not completely comfortable with my finger near his somach....because he still sometimes gets a shock when I put my fire to his chest but he calms down straight away and that might be caused because my finger is always below him and sometimes he doesn't see it!
I was so surprised when I realized that my budgie Jeff trusted me a lot more than I thought he really did!
I say he trusts me about 90 or 80 per cent!
I thought he only trusted me 5 percent but no that's my budgie Green cause no matter what I do with her she gos absolutely wild!

Re: Are my budgies likely to breed?

Oh and I'm planning to read all about breeding birds and taming them to the fullest extent so that they understand me and know me so they will still trust me if I make a BIG mistake and make them upset
What I'm really worried about is taming Green!
Pls help me ! I'm not sur what to do!!
