Names for cockatiels and male or female?

Hello everyone.

As some of you know I am probably going to get a cockatiel in July and I just wanted to know some names. Please include male and female as I haven't decided which gender yet. Also, please tell me whether they are male or female.

Could you give some advice on which gender my cockatiel should be. I am going towards a male because I do not want a female to die because of egg binding but I haven't actually decided yet.

While it is a possibility that a female could die of eggbinding- I would say it is very unlikely and should not be the thing to deter you from a female. Because you have allotted lots of time before you get the bird I would use this time to get to know different birds and fall in love with one that meshes with your personality. What type of name are you looking for? Some categories I can think of are: Movie names, classic names, human names, abstract names, food names, place names.

Once you do get your tiel, I'm sure you will find the perfect name.. I brought Tango home almost two weeks ago. My husband has a personal aircraft license and we both decided we wanted a name associated with aviation. Our last tiel, Piper, was named after the Piper personal aircraft. I got Tango's name from the ham radio alphabet.. Sometimes, you may have to have a pet for awhile before you come up with the perfect name.. Please let us know what you decide.

Usually the name will just come to you once you are taking the bird home. One of my birds was named "Gecko" because in the box on the way home, he was making noises that sounded like a gecko.

I cheated, googled for "names for friend" and found "Cara" right off the bat.

I have Crash and Eclipse. Crash got her name because when we first got her 5 years ago her wings were not clipped. She would fly and Crashed into everything. So the name Crash fits her. And Eclipse got his name because he is all gray with white on the edge of his wings... so he kinda looks like a lunar eclipse. He looks like he has racing stripes really. I am not sure what kind of tiel Eclipse is but he's all different shades of gray with a white face and white on his wings. I will post pictures of him pretty soon maybe someone will be able to tell me.

The site I have linked has literally HUNDREDS of different names. I used this list to name my little bird! I'd just look at the list, find a name I liked, have a look at her to see if it'd suit her, and I finally found Mango Hope it helps!
