A REAL 'girl fight'
I have a problem with my 2 female budgies. They fight constantly, and I don't know how to make them stop. They'll fight over perches, who gets to sit next to the mirror, food, and even the birdbath. Sometimes they'll b mild little jabs with the beak and a few hacking chirps to get the other moving, but sometimes it wil b slashes and screaming until the others butt falls 2 the floor do the other can sleep on the swing. On occasion they will groom each other but every day it's madness! Any suggestions?

Re: A REAL 'girl fight'
Hi! Ashley, On occasion, two female budgies will have what I call "territorial issues", such as those that your two babies are having. How old are they and have you had them long? Are there any male budgies in your home? Did you get them at the same time, or were they purchased on different occasions. Have they always been together in the same cage. They could also be in puberty, which often times changes the behavior of birds. Once they get over it (it does take awhile) they will go back to being sweet and laid back budgies.
I have homed budgies for many, many years. At one time, my girlfriend gave me a pair of budgies that were given to her, because she didn't have the time to take care of them, and they displayed very similar behavior as your two. One would be so mean to the other (and visa versa), and beak them until the bird would fall to the cage floor. Personally, if I were you, I would put them in separate cages, and set the cages side by side. There was a post that I read here on Tailfeathers just today, from a lady who has homed many birds in her lifetime, and she related that a bird's home is his cage. And that he/she should be allowed to be secure in that home, and not have to put up with inappropriate behavior from any other birds in the cage. I would bet that once they are in separate cages and have their own toys, food cups, water cup, etc. etc., you will see a BIG change in both of them. Please keep us posted of your progress with your two babies. I hope this information has been of help to you. Oh, and by the way, when you get a chance, we LOVE pics here, so post a pic of your two little budgies!

Re: A REAL 'girl fight'
Thanx sooo much! I'll try to afford another cage when I can,and I'll tell u how it's working out. Well Ive had for about 3 yrs now from someone who gave her to me 4 free. She was maybe 2or3 then, but I have no idea how old she is. Lol Marbles I bought from a trusted petstore as a baby. She is now about to turn 2or3. I hit her maybe 2 yrs later ti give alex company, but mistly cause i could "start over". (alex never liked me and i wanted to try and build another relationship). Ibut even Marbles hates ne now.... Anyway. They loved each other @ first but then they started fighting till the others beak was chipped. They r the only birds I have. Does that help?
