Fantastico!!

So, one of my customers came in today to pick up some pellets for their GCC. I remember the bird they got, mainly because this particular bird was the most outgoing bird I've ever seen come through our store. I've never had a bird grab millet sprays out of my hand on day one!! The bird was doing "Step Up" and ringing a bell (instead of screaming) for attention by the time we sold him/her.

This family couldn't get a dog or cat (kids were allergic), but they are doing great with the bird. They did a ton of research before getting the bird, and while I was scared when they purchased a small cage, they assured me that the small cage was for travel - they had already set up a fairly large cage with a gym on top. I suspect the bird was more for dad than the kids...

Anyways, they have a little girl who is obsessed with Dora the Explorer. The dad says they watch the same episodes over and over again - to the point that he knows every line. I don't have kids, but from what I hear "Fantastico!!" is something they say on the show? They're guessing the bird is saying "Fantastico!!". It also says "No, no, no!!".

I'm just wondering what some of the better talkers would get out of watching things like Dora on a daily basis!!

Birds are very intelligent. I think they are very aware of all sounds and words in their home environment. I once had a tiel that made the exact sound of my telephone ringing. Personally, I think it is soooooo neat that little GCC has even picked up the words from kids cartoons!! Check out the sounds and words of all different kinds of birds on YouTube. There are some really, really neat and intelligent birds on YouTube.

Our customers with the bigger birds ALWAYS amaze me. Swearing isn't a good thing, but it's kinda funny when the birds are using it in context!!

Hearing a cockatoo screaming "SPONGE-BOB-SQUARE-PANTS..."? Priceless...
