egg
i kinda need help ...my mums had two birds one ( the male ) died about about a month ago maybe 2 months ago( i cant remember when ) the other bird ( the female ) just layed an egg ...my mum hasn't moved the egg and had put a cover over the cage .
we are worried that the egg is too cold and we are unsure how to warm it up
we are also unsure if there is a chick inside or just an unfertilized egg
also we dont know how to feed a chick either
i told my mum to call the vet in the morning but until then we arent sure what to do ...
Thanks
Ella

Re: egg
I think the egg will be o.k. Hen tiels usually don't start setting on their eggs right away. They wait for awhile until they have laid 2-3 before setting begins. Your mum did the right thing by not disturbing the egg and leaving it exactly where the hen laid it. Hens don't like you to move their eggs. I would just leave the egg where it is, cover the hen as you always do for nighttime, and in the morning call your vet. He should be able to answer your questions. And also, there are many folks here who go through the breeding process for their birds all of the time. I'm sure some of them will stop by and give you some suggestions and advice.
