    Biting Promblems?

    Hay there!
So I've had Gypsy, my pearly conure, for 4 days now, I taught her how to step up & all that, but she's now biting.
She keeps wanting to go on my shoulder to play with my hair, which I'm fine with, but she gets very agressive & ends up chomping on my ear, neck, or face.
But because I won't let her up, she bites me anyways.
I keep saying in a very authoritive way " Don't Bite ", & pushing her beak away softly, but she still does.

I don't know what to do. Please help!?

Sounds like you are doing good just keep reinforcing her not to bite. Best way i can explain it is to picture her as if she was a 2 year old child. You just have to keep at it and even put her cage in her cage as a "time out" . Lily my agreen cheek conure still does this sometime and i just make sure i stand firm with her i also lightly blow on her face when she starts biting and stay no biting lily. Give her a toy she can bite also helps.

    Re: Biting Promblems?

Koj did this for a while, also. It was getting to the point where I was trying everything to deter the behavior but he still wanted to bite, as if not in an aggressive way, but in a way that was fun and harmless(at least, to him). At first replacing the bite behavior with a toy ring or chew paper/etc helped, but eventually he would drop it or prefer to go back to biting and nipping me. I found that directing his beak elsewhere, very gently, with one finger has helped immensely. By doing this habitually in replacement of biting I kind of taught him to rub his beak instead of wanting to bite, as if a different and acceptable way to communicate to me. If he tried to bite while on my shoulder, the neck or ears, I would remove him from that position. Don't get me wrong, he still nips occasionally, but it's not nearly as prominent as it was now that I've been doing this. Good luck and just keep at it^.,^
