July abscence

I will be gone from the 21st to the 30th this month so if you notice me not posting, don't worry, I didn't abandon TF!

My grandmother is having a quadruple bypass on the 24th, so I am going down there to spend some time with her before surgery + be around for a few days after. She's a Jehovah's Witness, so not allowed to take a blood transfusion, doctors only give a 50/50 chance at making it through, if I am absent for longer, it means it didn't go well. My mother is in the uncomfortable position of if anything happens in surgery, the doctors will ask if she can have blood and my mother has to say no. I do not envy that. Any vibes for her quick recovery would be appreciated.

I hope everything goes well and hopefully she wont be needing any blood. Can she give her own blood ahead of time so they can only use her own blood if needed or is this bad as well? Your poor Mom but that is there beliefs and no one can really say anything bad about it if that is what they believe in. I will be sending many good vibes her way when you are gone.

Thanks Deanna. Unfortunately they believe that if the blood exits her body, it is tainted. So she can't take even her own blood.

My mother has the power to say yes/no because my grandmother trusts her to respect the belief when most my family would say yes to blood while she was out.

My prayers are with your family, Marie. Hoping all goes well with the surgery.

Nowadays the doctors are doing marvelous things, so I have a feeling she'll pull through fine.

And if you need a second opinion, you can always ask her doctor to consult with Dr. Kahnee!

Marrie, I also will be praying for your grandmother that everything will go smoothly and she will come through the surgery with flying colors. I also will pray for your Mom and you, that you have inner strength through the ordeal. Praying for complete recovery for your grandmother.

Marrie, I'm not particularly religious but you, your mom and your gran have my prayers, best wishes, karma and the kitchen sink thrown in for everything to go well during surgery.:bihug

My prayers are with you and your family. I pray that your grandmother gets through the surgery with flying colors and that no transfusion will be needed. I'm sure your mother will appreciate you being there for her and your grandmother. Sending you hugs!!

I'm sure Thanos and your boyfriend will get along just fine. Just be sure that there are some potato chips around the house for bribes just in case.. JK (Like Pat, I thought you could use a giggle too).
