Some very sad news. Taken from the Ustream Decorah Eagle website

July 3, 2012:
We are very sorry to announce that D12 is dead. D12 was found electrocuted at the base of a power pole on a Sunday morning. We notified the power company, who modified the top of that pole on Sunday and several other poles in the area on Monday. As of this morning, they are continuing to identify and modify poles to make them raptor safe.

Fly Free D12. You left us too soon!!

Oh, what terrible news!! D12 was such a beautiful eagle. And he sure did make history, all around the world.

Fly High and Free D12!! You will forever be missed by all of us who admire and love God's most precious creations . . . . birds of ALL kinds!

This is horrible news and I am so sad for D12, his parents and also D13 and D14 who now are going to miss there sibling. I am happy that they already went out there and fixed the pole so this dont happen to no other birds in the area. Gosh this is just the thing we all fear when our babies move on in there lives and it has made me so very sad to hear this happened.

Fly Free D12, you were loved by many and will never be forgotten.
