I love the picture of Earl and Twitter and I think it is so cute that Twitter let Earl watch her eggs when she actually had eggs in her nest. I am happy Earl is happy with his new "flock".

Re: Singing in our sleep...
A little update:
I was going to post another picture, but it's pretty much the same as this one. Twitter has eggs; Earl has been sitting close. They're about an inch apart (so no biting or pecking), but Twitter magically has colored paper (from Earl's toy) in her nest. Not sure how that happened, since my husband swears he didn't help.
Earl has been pretty grouchy, and goes on "Ack! Ack! Ack!" sprees when anything gets near the two of them. Me? Threat to the eggs. My husband? Threat to the eggs. The cat? Huge threat to the eggs. Feathers (HIS feathers)? Biggest threat, so they get the loudest "Ack!".
I'm not sure if any of us really know what he's up to... I'm assuming Earl knows Twitter has eggs, but is he defending her? Just freaking out like always? Who knows! Twitter doesn't seem to care that he's there, and I think she appreciates his "DANGER!! ACK!!" warnings.
Eggs are serious business.

Egg's Cracking...
Re: Singing in our sleep...
Twitter and Earl seems like they would make a great couple! (If they were both budgies or Diamond doves)
Does Twitter just have eggs because she is in breeding mood??

Do you think that Earl passed some of his colored papers to Twitter to put in her nest? It truly sounds like Little Earl and Twitter are true friends that love each other

Birds are so unique and creative. Sounds like Earl and Twitter are providing lots of entertainment for you and your husband, besides you learning all about their behavior when she is nesting. I hope the eggs will hatch and you will post some pics of the new "family"!

Re: Singing in our sleep...
Twitter lays eggs 3 weeks after the old ones are out of her nest. It has been 3 weeks on the dot for the last few clutches. We tried taking the nest out, but she'd sit on her perch, lay the egg, it would crack, and she would whine. With no nest, the eggs were coming about once a week. Not good.
I'm guessing Earl did pass some of the colored paper over, because we were watching him try to do it with a tailfeather (THAT didn't work).
The displays Earl creates for Twitter have become more complicated because... Earl just got a new cage!! New cage, missing the perches and cups... for $10.97

Wow what a bargain for Earls new cage, it looks huge too me. I think it is adorable how close both of them are too each other and I really am happy you took Earl home from your work when you did because I bet he really loves it at your house.
