How do I convince my mom to let me get a budgie?

Hi I have been researching budgies for about 2 months. My dad also loves budgies and wants to get one but my mom does not. She thinks that they are extremely loud and they smell. She also doesn't like the idea of birds in cages. But I tell her as soon as I train them they can be let out for hours. She still says no. I told her that I took very good care of my hamster before she passed away. She said I did but still she said no. What do I do? By the way I do know that budgies are not easy to take care of but I have had experience in lots of different animals.

Perhaps your Dad will be able to talk her into one but it is a huge decision to make because your Mom and Dad will be the ones that will have to spend the money on your bird if it gets sick and needs to see a vet. Birds might be super cute and very loveable but they are also very expensive when they go to the vets. Birds do not stink at all and if you keep the cage nice and clean it really is not that messy as well. Birds do eat lots of seeds which get on the bottom of the cage and really do go everywhere if the cage is not cleaned every day.

    I second Deanna.
The only parrot / Parakeet that smells is a sick one.
Bird pooh should never smell. And treated right they do not make that much noise most of the time. And I would not call a Budgie loud at any time.
If your mum is dead set against it you are going to have to work hard to change her mind, but do not argue with her as that may not go down well.
You have to convince her that you are capable of attending to a birds need for the next 15yrs.
And as Deanna says You do need to find away of putting money aside for any vet fees that may crop up. And technically all birds should have a health check when you first get them.
You maybe able to change tact a little and go with a rescue. There are a huge number out there that need to be rehomed. And it may just tweak her heart strings a bit.
    R.I.P my little ones.
