How to get new baby lovebird to bathe?

He's only 7 weeks old and has been with me for 6 days.
I've tried putting his bath on top of the cage where he hangs out but won't go near it.
Now I have it hanging on the cage facing the inside but still won't go near it. He gets out of the cage by going under the bath. Should I spray him with a bottle instead?

Personally, I would wait until he is about 12 weeks old and has grown more. (strictly my own opinion). The water just might overwhelm him right now. As to spritzing, some birds like it and other do not. My budgie does not like spritzing at all. And my cockatiel loves it. If you do spritz, use tepid warm water. The cooler water might also be keeping him away from the bath.

You can always get a big piece of Romaine lettuce and get it nice and wet and clip it to the side of the cage close to his favorite perch. Lots of birds will rub on wet things and hopefully it will work with him as well. Misting him might scare him but you can always try to see how he reacts.

Sammy hates, hates, hates being spritzed. But he loves throwing himself under taps or in bowls.

I don't think he bathed himself properly until he was about 3 months old - and even then it was more mess than bath

With Sammy, one thing that will almost always make him bathe is sunshine. If it's sunny out, you can almost guarantee he'll be in his water pot chucking about his drink

Thanks Lee for the adorable sig!
