Fire II is awesome!! I just love his huge tail
Hopefully he lives a good long life
That is sad how they keep all the fish in the tiny cups at the store. Poor fish![]()
As some of you know, I had a beautiful red betta fish named Fire that didn't last very long. There seemed to be problems with that tank (ie after keeping one betta for two years, after that nothing seemed to live long in that tank) so I emptied it out, cleaned everything, changed the filter media and started over. Then a couple of weeks ago I went into Petsmart and chose another one. (I didn't go to the fancy aquarium shop this time as it's pricier and harder to get to).
This guy looks very similar to Fire, and he does have a fiery personality, so I've named him Fire II. So far he seems quite robust and healthy, especially now that he's out of that tiny cup of dirty water in the pet store.
I spent ages trying to decide which one to save from its life in a cup; Fire II is in the bottom shelf of the picture, back row, third from right, so you can't see him.
He seems pleased to have all this space now, and the tank is on my desk next to the computer so I enjoy watching him strut around and puff up for his reflection.

Fly Free Boomer, we will forever love you.
Wow! Fire!! is gorgeous! His colors sure complement the inside of your tank. You really have a talent of arranging the rocks and ornaments. I used to love to watch my Blue puff himself up when he saw his image too! They really are very interesting fish for sure.
wow thats one awesome fish. rename it FireStorm he looks like a riot of colors. is he stepping up yet ?? head scritches? does he sing yet ?![]()
Good idea! maybe I should name him Firestorm!! He won't step up of course. In fact, I have a confession to make. I have a phobia about fish. I love to have them in aquariums, but I can't put my hand in the tank. Terrified of them possibly touching me. I use planting sticks to maintain the plants so I don't have to stick my hand in there. Works, so far.
Fire II (Firestorm?) has built a giant bubble nest!! I know the males build bubble nests in preparation for breeding as they squeeze the eggs out of the female, and place them in the bubbles to tend to them until they hatch.
I guess he wants a girlfriend.
I think FireII (Firestorm) is loving his new home.
Pleased to report that Fire the Second (Firestorm) is still here, still fiery and active, and enjoying his space. He is busy building bubble nests all the time, and I have three snails in there keeping things clean.
That is great that Fire the second is still around. Sounds like the good cleaning must of gotten whatever was killing the other fish.
Fly Free Boomer, we will forever love you.
I'm happy to hear Fire II is doing well. To me those bubble nests are just too unique! Thanks for the update.
WOW!! What a lovely Fighter, he is gorgeous, love his color. I wish him a long life :
Cheers
Love The Hand That Feeds You
He's still with us!! He watches me from his tank. I think these are very intelligent fish. Funny they all have their own quirks. One of his predecessors would only eat frozen brine shrimp, and did not recognize the pellets as food. This one gobbles up the pellets, and rejects the frozen brine shrimp. He sees me about to drop the pellets in and swims over to his feeding spot.

The betta I had would not eat pellets but would eat the flakes. Go figure! I'm happy to read he is doing well!! They are very entertaining fish for sure.
Fire 2 is a beautiful fish. The tank you have him in now is good. The store had him in too small a cup. like fancy fish.
Wow beautiful betta! Love the name! I wish him a long life. I will prob be getting one soon. I hate how they are in tiny cups at petstores![]()
