    Question Where to get Cardboard?

I have read on Tailfeathers and other sites that cardboard is bird safe. But what kind of cardboard is safe? Where do I get it?

Would an Amazon box work with all the tape and glue cut off?

I want to make toys out of it.

Thanks for any help! I want to keep my birds safe and happy playing!

I think Amazons boxes are white box's so I am not sure if they are safe or not. I would use just the plain brown/tan cardboard boxes instead.

People come into the chance to get a lot of cardboard. Just use common sense whyou are deciding which cardboard to use for your bird.

    Hi Deanna,

The two Amazon boxes I got this week were brown. Decently big too. They had parrot toys in them and the seed you told me about. =)

I was thinking of cutting them up into squares to make a toy with. Turk loves to shred stuff and Ollie seems to like it too.

    Thanks!

    Re: Where to get Cardboard?

Did you buy the Volkman seed mix? I hope your birds love it as much as all the other birds I know how love it.

I use to build forts with plain cardboard boxes for Boomer and he loved them. He would chew on them as well and they never hurt him so I would say go for it.

I also googled this and found this article which makes it seem just fine to use cardboard boxes, just like the person in the article I too would make toys of out of corrugated cardboard. I did not give toilet paper or paper towel rolls to him though because of the glue used to hold them together. http://makeyourownbirdtoys.com/Cardboard-Safety.html
