Nacho is a big talker saying all of those things. Tikki mumbles lots of things and does also say some things perfectly but mostly it is mumbles when he is crawling around in his cage. Nacho sounds like a little cutie.

Oh boy flying babies, you are going to be a busy person for awhile keeping up with them.
Fly Free Boomer, we will forever love you.

Great news..the babies are flying!! And yes, they are as fast as lightning. I love all the names you have chosen. They grew so fast. Nacho is doing great too. He has quite the vocabulary already. Your whole flock is awesome!!

We have a horse who competes under the name "Lucky Clover" haha! Good names. Actually most of our horse's compete under luck based names. Too many to list but my main jumper is called Paddy's Luck. Also, my old fella Kichi - Kichi is japanese kind of meaning good fortune or lucky. How exciting that they are flying!

News on all the house: new birds!

Two new parakeets have joined the flock, two boys we got at petland with one named Loki and the other one since we just got it yesterday isn't named yet. We also have a new type of pet now from also petland which is a dwarf hamster named Lola, it's unsure the exact gender but Lola is the name lol. I'll add a picture in a bit of the new hamster but it will take a while to get pictures of the two new birds. (The Loki looks like eevee and kiwi, the new one without a name is a brighter blue with purple hues like winter and belle) Loki seems to be Belle's mate and we have hope that the one without a name will be snow White's mate.

    Re: A growing house

An update on the flock, we have now 16 parakeets cause we added a new one named midnight and he is a darker and slightly violet color with a very kind and gentle attitude. Also the most recent one we added is named Yoshi and he is a more plump version of Loki and is able to be handled a bit due to him being clipped from the store. Our most recent bird we got just yesterday though and it's a new chapter in my birdkeeping adventure, we found it (going to say him due to not knowing the gender) at our petland we go to and saw he was all alone and so tiny and cute. We went back a week after originally seeing him and saw no one had picked him up yet so using my birthday money I had recently received I begged and was told finally yes that I could get him! It is a tiny little bird we have chosen to name lovey cause.... it's a little LOVEBIRD! His little friend was purchased without him making him all alone and me being to kind of person who can't resist a lonely and cute little pet I decided I wanted to take him home to join the flock! I will be posting a picture right after posting this in the forum and hope to get an idea about how old he is from you guys cause all I know is that he is quite tiny and I know that he might get a bit bigger eventually it seems. A good thing is that he was hand raised so I went to hold him and he ended up cuddling with me for a good half hour or so. He also seems to like Lindsey Stirling music which I have an album I'm currently playing as I type this and he is chirping with joy! I know I will love this little one growing up as I do since my 19th birthday is tomorrow so wish me luck and feel free to give me little tips on the age and things that maybe lovebirds like to do and eat that I can try!

    The growing household,

Awww!!! Now that is great news!! Lovebirds are completely different from budgies. They are full of mischief, and quite loud and vocal. I think you are going to have a great journey with him. Please keep us posted. You are one special bird lover!

    Re: A growing house

I have found that the little one is very quiet actually and sleeps every half hour to every hour atleast for ten to fifteen minutes which I'm hoping doesn't mean anything bad and maybe just due to it being a young baby adjusting to a new environment. Today we made progress on trust and being more adjusted to home by being held in a small warm and fuzzy blanket and given individual bunches of millet and parakeet food since I noticed that he wasn't eating much of the lovebird seed and pellet (fruity looking food), he instantly took to the new food with a fast eating and demolishing of the millet and new seed. I do plan on finding some suitable smaller seeded food made for lovebirds so that he won't eat the parakeet food but for atleast a few days he might be given the food along with the regular I put in there in the first place. He has a sweet and shy attitude with people but when I put on some tunes this bird does one of two things, either it relaxes him to sleep or makes him chirp with glee and run around excited. I plan tomorrow (MY BIRTHDAY!) to try some different music styles and artist to see what kind he might enjoy the best.

A question to anyone who has a lovebird, do they like to cuddle with you when you take them out or is it just something that my lovey is doing? Every time I move him away from my body he gets antsy and takes a leap of faith into my chest or runs from wherever he is to under my chin.... is it due to him being scared or is it a feeling protected and wanting to cuddle thing?

One very important thing is what should I do about getting his band off his leg! I don't know if it's very visible in the picture but he has a green plastic band on his one leg but it doesn't seem to have any numbers or letters on it, also it's way too tight on his little leg and he fidgets with it a lot so I was looking into places to get it removed in my area for cheap or free. Any ideas on what I should do? Thanks in advance!

    Re: A growing house

Happy, Happy birthday to you!! Have an awesome day tomorrow.

I've never homed lovebirds, so will let the owners make comments. From what you write about him, it sounds to me like he is displaying typical lovebird behavior. I think the parakeet seed is fine for now, until you find one you like.

Being so young, and also new to your home, I think the naps are normal. As I have to say one more time, you just have a very natural gift of taking care of all birds. We will watch for updates.
