Sorry you lost the baby. I really hope you can figure out a way to keep them safe outside. Reed fencing on top and maybe let it drape a little down the sides too. Be careful none if the wire holding it together is sticking into the aviary though. We have a little bit of it on our back fence and I cut my finger on a end of that binding wire a few weeks ago.

    Re: Stephane's roseicollis 2017

I am so sorry to hear about the little one passing, birds are really amazing creatures. Somehow they really know the health of their chicks, and to prevent a lifetime of suffering they will push the baby cross over to the rainbow bridge instead. It is still so sad to hear of this though, but also still amazes me how smart birds are sometimes. On the other hand, I am glad to hear the other ones are doing well and are healthy. I am sorry to hear about that mouse, I hope you are able to get rid of all these pests so that your babies can have some peace and quiet there. No doubt they are in good hands with you for sure!

I was very sorry to hear about the lost little one. that would break my heart. How dangerous is a dormouse to your birds? I can understand why the birds wouldn't like a dormouse in their cage but is there any real danger? I'm wondering how a mouse could hurt a bird. I've had roaches (yuk) in my lovie's cage but always under the newspaper on the bottom and never seemed to bother the birds. (The roaches are gone now, it was an outbreak last summer.)

    Got a problem

At least 2 of the chicks maybe 3 have broken or paralyzed foot, alwayse the right feet, don't know where it can come from.
It's not due to the ring, it's not an arrack, the cage isjust 50 cm hihj so I don't think it related?!?!?!
    I'm lost I don't understand!

In the aviary I've good news and bad news.

Is there any chance some animal or maybe even a huge insect bit their feet? I know that spiders have very bad bites, if they are really big.

I am no expert at all but a few of those sure look like Marbled Lovebirds to me, they are beautiful! Heck I just recently heard about how rare Marbled Lovebirds were from Anfsurfer (Tim) and I think he said after the first molt you will know for sure if they are a true marbled lovie. The white one is gorgeous!

2 of the youngs are Marbled, maybe a third.
I Thought they're were common in USA as from what I know this mutation first appeared in USA but yes you don't see them often in France, actually I never saw one althought I know some breeder breed them.
I had the luck to buy a female in Belgium and a male in Switzerland.

The only babies on the last pic are in the middle, the other are the parents.

    Re: Stephane's roseicollis 2017

The babies are so beautiful Stephane!

I don't think I said Marbled were rare here??? They're definitely uncommon in the pet market though. Most breeders who have them either have a waiting list from other breeders for them, or they get snatched up by breeder friends before they wean and come available to sell. In the 7.5 years I've had Lovebirds, I've only known 1 person to have one as a pet, and that was Maya on this site. She had that beautiful Mika I think his name was.
Deanna, Maybe you're confusing "Marbled" with "*Blue" Peachfaced. *Blues were selectively bred abroad and took a while to get here because of the import ban due to Bird Flu. They are the lastest PF thing, and my two Marbled birds are also *Blues.

    Re: Stephane's roseicollis 2017

Tim I was confused because I didn't know there were different marbled lovebirds but I knew your two were hard to find and expensive to buy. I remember Maya here. I miss the old days here with all the beautiful lovebirds on our site. Especially your flock Tim. Stephanes marbled babies here remind me of your baby lovies.

I am looking forward to seeing what these beautiful babies of yours is going to look like with there first molt Stephane. Are you going to keep them all in your flock or sell them?
