I am sorry and I hope he keeps on getting better. Thank goodness you found a avian vet to take him too last night.
Sending many get well and prayers to aUthor.
We had to take Swee pea thor to the 24 hour vet tonight, luckily they have an avian specialist on staff. He was fine this morning, and this evening he seemed fine. flying around, etc. but he started getting very lethargic and quiet. Around 9 we found him on top his cage, wings out to the side, and beak open. It almost looked like he was having trouble pooing, but his vent was clear.
His behavior was total opposite of what he normally is, so we drove him to the vet. She is concerned because of his rapid deterioration, and admitted him over night, so he is resting in an incubator. When we left we went and said goodnight, and his beak was closed, and wings back tight to his sides, which the vet said was a good sign.
They will be calling if anything happens, and doing what ever needs doing over night.
Please keep him in your thoughts, he's new to us, but much loved.
thanks

Fly Free Boomer, we will forever love you.
Thank God for a 24 hour vet there! No matter how long you've had him, I am sure it's a very stressful and sad time. Hoping for a speedy recovery and a resolution as well. Prayers, hugs and special thoughts being sent your way!!!

Sweet pea did not make it. He rallied for a while mid night, but this morning about 7am he passed away. The vet tried oxygen, and cardio, but he was gone.
Oh no!!!!! I am sooo very sorry that Sweet Pea Thor has passed. I am completely wiped out finding this news here. Sending you my sympathy and hugs, MJ. We are here for you!!
Fly high and free over the Rainbow Brudge, Sweet Pea Thor! You will be missed! And loved forever!
Oh no, MJ. I'm so sorry to hear this. I know it is heartbreaking regardless of how long you've had him. Our little birdies are so fragile and yet hide the signs of illness till its too late. Sending you big hugs.

My mom in law took misty to the vet for a gram stain, and thankfully she is in the clear. I just dont understand how this can keep happening. We are protective, and do everything I know of ro keep them healthy. But it isn't working. We are having a wake for Thor now. My daughter was bonded I that short time.
I am sorry to read this and feel so awful for your entire family, especially your daughter because they have such tender hearts. It is so sad that you have lost another bird and sadly Thor was not even living with you for that long. It is hard to not blame ourselves when they get sick or worse die but it usually is not our fault at all. Birds just find ways sometimes to eat something they shouldn't, bite into something they shouldn't and crash into things. It is a rough life for them because they just want to fly and explore everywhere and it gets them into trouble. I hope with all my heart that Misty is perfectly fine.
Sending you and your family lots of love and hugs.
Fly Free Boomer, we will forever love you.
the nacropsy results are back, and there wasn't anything in his body aside from virus. so its not necessarily environmental. It is some relief, I was afraid he had eaten some splinters.
R.I.P. sweet one
