    Kakarikis

Hi there and thanks for having me on your forum! I have a wee question about my kakarikis. We have recently just built our aviary which is about 15'x6'. I got all my birds together and have 2 kakarikis, 2 cockatiels, 2 red rumps and 2 rosa bourkes. All the birds have settled well (got them about 5weeks ago) but my kakarikis dont seem to want to be in the flight much. I often find them sleeping in the indoor part. Does this sound normal? I dont think they have been in a flight before so could just be settling in. They are eating normally and i have spotted them having a bath. Was interested to hear what peaple think thanks.

Welcome to the forum. I do not know anything about kakarikis so I cannot say why yours are standing inside really. My guess is what you said they are still settling in and the idea of being in a big flight area is just too scary right now for them. In time they should venture out and explore it more. My lovebird Boomer was a huge baby when it came to new things and maybe your two kakarikis are like he was.
Fly Free Boomer, we will forever love you.

My experience of kakarikis is that they aren't quite as adventurous as some other parrots. It might just take them some time to want to come out
